Job Summary

AECOM is seeking Construction Managers – Transmission to support our Energy Business Line on projects in NY.

ALTHOUGH THESE POSITIONS ARE TIED TO THE BROAD STREET NYC OFFICE, THE PROJECT & ACTUAL WORK LOCATIONS WILL BE IN NORTHERN NEW YORK, AROUND MASSENA, OR IN WESTERN NEW YORK, AROUND THE BUFFALO AREA.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide support for any activities for projects such as but not limited to safety orientation of contractors and/or visiting CLIENT employees. Assure all support or orientations are consistent with Client procedures.
  2. Create a project specific construction submittal review workflow.
  3. Create and distribute daily reports to the Project Engineer, Resident Construction Manager, Project Manager and others as necessary, including photo documentation.
  4. Coordinate all meetings including location assignments, schedule confirmations, agenda development, meeting minutes or notes and action item tracking and follow-up.
  5. Perform weekly review & update schedules and when schedules indicate trending away from milestones, request contractor recovery schedule.
  6. Observe work to ensure conformance with drawings and specifications and installations consistent with approved submittals and materials including Design Change Notices, Field Change Requests, etc.
  7. Conduct/attend weekly (or as necessary) meetings with stakeholders and contractors. Develop and distribute meeting agenda and minutes in a timely fashion.
  8. Ensure Contractor compliance with the Client’s Project Management Policies and Procedures and Document Controls program.
  9. Review and recommend to the Client Additional Work Requests and requests for time extensions as necessary.
  10. Develop a tracking log for all Additional Work Requests/Additional Work Proposals and Change Orders for the project(s)
  11. Track, document and evaluate all Contractor claims.
  12. Review Contractor prepared Field Change Requests for compliance with Client procedures.
  13. Track, document and evaluate all Design Change Notices and Field Change Requests. Client responses must be included in log. Responsible to forward to the responsible party in a timely manner, recommended resolutions from the engineer or other, of any unanticipated site conditions and response to any technical questions as to prevent any delays or additional costs.
  14. Conduct daily inspections of the work. Photo/video document daily activities. Enter salient photos to electronic project binder.
  15. Witness all on-site inspections or testing such as CWI inspections, core drill sampling, concrete pours, commissioning testing, etc. and ensure all practices are in accordance with the contract documents and approved processes. If no official report is to be provided by the contractor(s) a report shall be written by the CP and submitted to the Project Engineer, Resident Construction Manager or Project Manager for approval.
  16. Review, track, validate and recommend for payment all invoices from the contractor(s) prior to submission to the Client’s Accounts Payable verifying the accuracy of work billed. Prepare invoicing on Client’s template
  17. Obtain interim as-built documents from contractors with each interim application for payment, as applicable, and champion interim review and validation as necessary. The Client utilizes SmartUse Software Platform for collaboration of As-Built drawings.
  18. Coordinate and attend punch list inspections and distribute the list within two days to all key stakeholders. CP will track the punch list work and issue a completion letter to the contractor and all key stakeholders once the Client confirms work has been

satisfactorily completed.

  1. Ensure that construction is performed according to design documents via monitoring and enforcement with field personnel and adherence to Project Management’s Construction Inspection/Monitoring program.
  2. Perform receiving inspection, upon all major equipment deliveries, CP shall notify the Client’s Resident Construction Manager and Project Manager in writing that the equipment does/does not meet the equipment specifications, in accordance with the

Client’s Construction Inspection & Monitoring Program (CI/MP).

  1. Prepare and distribute daily construction reports and progress photos.

Level specific responsibilities:

  • Provides guidance to employees within the latitude of established policies.
  • Establishes procedures that affect immediate organization.
  • Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including understanding of current business trends.
  • Acts as advisor to subordinates to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems.
  • May have budget responsibilities.
  • Erroneous decision or failure to achieve results adds to costs and may impact short-term goals of organization.
  • Oversees the administration of projects during the construction cycle including technical, financial, and client satisfaction.
  • Accountable for the development, coordination, and execution of the planning, design and/or construction management activities and personnel under individual’s direction on a day-to-day

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS plus 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education (AA/AS degree plus 10 years of relevant experience OR HS diploma / GED plus 12 years of relevant experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with power / utilities projects, especially T&D work, is strongly preferred
  • OSHA certification is a plus
